Carrie and Devin recently exchanged vows in one of the most beautiful settings I have seen yet, Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. The weather threatened rain all morning and it seemed like everything would need to be moved inside, but Mother Nature quickly got it out of her system and everything was able to go as planned. I am so glad it worked out because it was lovely.
I started out with Carrie who got ready at their apartment and her pup, Briggs. Getting ready at home always feels so much easier for the bride.
Here she is breaking in her wedding shoes and walking Briggs.
Tea is very important to Carrie and Devin, so we stopped for a quick break for a quiet moment with some tea in their very own tea room.
Then we were off to meet up with the guys for the First Look. Again, it was so lovely!
I can’t wait to share part two in a few days.
I photographed Katie & Steve in nearby Lincoln Square. We started out at Winnemac Park and finished up just around the corner from where these two got engaged! How sweet is that?
It was so fun getting to know them and I cannot wait to photograph their wedding next May at the amazing MillCreek Barn in Michigan!
I can’t wait for May 9th!
As some of you know, I was recently lucky enough to travel to Japan. It was definitely a break from life as I know it and it was a complete Lost In Translation sort of trip, but it was so worth it. I traveled with a friend and we met other friends along the way and can’t believe the kindness that I came across while abroad. If you have the chance, I would highly recommend a trip to Japan. It is worth every penny.
We started off by heading to Meiji Jingu, a Shinto shrine near Tokyo’s Harujuko neighborhood.
Day 1: Tokyo.
Day 2: Tokyo, 7 a.m. at the Tsukiji Fish Market.
Shibuya, part two. This time at night.
Day 3: Kyoto.
Day 4: Kyoto, Arishiyama.
A Geisha somewhere in Gion.
Day 5: Kyoto, Fushimi Inari-Taisha, Thousand Gates.
From there, we were off to Nara where we saw this large man…
…and took selfies with these friendly fellas.
Then we were off to Osaka for a night of sushi, sake and karaoke.
Day 6: Hakone.
Day 7: Tokyo.
Shinjuku, Golden Gai.
Day 8: Tokyo > Chicago.
But first, a visit to Ueno with an old friend.
Japan was good to me and I can’t wait to go back one day. Now, back to the regularly scheduled wedding photography.
I photographed Piper’s parents last September as they exchanged vows. This past weekend, I photographed them again with their new addition, Piper, a tiny beagle puppy.
They recently adopted the most adorable beagle, and asked me to photograph her before she got too big. Needless to say, I was happy to do that for them. I mean. how cute is she?!
Also, I think any puppy photo session that ends up in the sink followed by a visit to the groomer is a successful one.
Here is part two of Katie & David’s wedding at Fitzgerald’s Night Club in Berwyn. We got to the venue and things kicked off right away and it all went off without a hitch. They even had a private show put on by a fantastic local band, JC Brooks and the Uptown Sound. I think I must have been grinning all night because I was just so happy to be there documenting it all. What a night.
Take a look!
Congrats to Katie & David. You threw one heck of a wedding! Thanks for letting me be part of it.
Katie & David recently tied the knot at Fitgerald’s in Berwyn, IL. Since they live in the Boston area, I hadn’t met them until the day of the wedding, but I soon realized how special these two were for one another. They were once roommates in an Oak Park apartment before starting their relationship. Of course, that was the perfect reason for a fun portrait session around Oak Park! We started off near the place it all began.
Stay tuned for Part 2!
I recently photographed this young family for the third time at their beautiful new home. First came the wedding when I was just getting started, then it was their first born’s baptism and now baby A is here! It has been wonderful seeing this family grow and I am so honored to have been with them through all of it.
As promised, here is Part Two of Jessica & Ethan’s Blumen Garden wedding. Just before their ceremony, a gigantic storm rolled through so everything was moved indoors. Regardless of the last minute change, everything went swimmingly! Take a look!
Jessica is a graphic designer, so she designed all of the wedding day eye candy. How gorgeous is this program?
Ethan brewed the beer served for the night and even built the kegerator while Jessica designed the signs. This was a true collaboration and I loved seeing how it all came together.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Gunderson!
You may remember these two from their engagement session around Chicago last summer, but Jessica & Ethan recently were married in nearby Sycamore at the gorgeous Blumen Gardens. They exchanged vows surrounded by their closest family and friends in what I found to be the perfect backdrop. Around every corner, there was something new to explore! What a place!
We beat the storm that rolled in quickly and were able to have our portrait session before the ceremony. We couldn’t have been any luckier! And you know what they say about rain on your wedding day…
Without further ado, congratulations to Jessica & Ethan. I started out with Ethan and the guys as they got ready.
And then it was time for Jessica and the ladies to get ready.
Then it was off to Blumen Gardens for a first look!
Part two is on it’s way. Stay tuned!
Carrie & Devin are from Milwaukee and are getting married this fall at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Carrie has a tender spot for Chicago so they came down for a sweet little downtown engagement session. We met pretty early on a Sunday morning and had Millennium Park's Lurie Garden to ourselves. It was wonderful!
Take a look!
Congratulations, you two! I can’t wait for September 20th!
