As promised, here is Part Two of Jessica & Ethan’s Blumen Garden wedding. Just before their ceremony, a gigantic storm rolled through so everything was moved indoors. Regardless of the last minute change, everything went swimmingly! Take a look!
Jessica is a graphic designer, so she designed all of the wedding day eye candy. How gorgeous is this program?
Ethan brewed the beer served for the night and even built the kegerator while Jessica designed the signs. This was a true collaboration and I loved seeing how it all came together.
Congratulations Mr. & Mrs. Gunderson!
You may remember these two from their engagement session around Chicago last summer, but Jessica & Ethan recently were married in nearby Sycamore at the gorgeous Blumen Gardens. They exchanged vows surrounded by their closest family and friends in what I found to be the perfect backdrop. Around every corner, there was something new to explore! What a place!
We beat the storm that rolled in quickly and were able to have our portrait session before the ceremony. We couldn’t have been any luckier! And you know what they say about rain on your wedding day…
Without further ado, congratulations to Jessica & Ethan. I started out with Ethan and the guys as they got ready.
And then it was time for Jessica and the ladies to get ready.
Then it was off to Blumen Gardens for a first look!
Part two is on it’s way. Stay tuned!
Carrie & Devin are from Milwaukee and are getting married this fall at the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center. Carrie has a tender spot for Chicago so they came down for a sweet little downtown engagement session. We met pretty early on a Sunday morning and had Millennium Park's Lurie Garden to ourselves. It was wonderful!
Take a look!
Congratulations, you two! I can’t wait for September 20th!
I recently had the pleasure of photographing the Venter family. I have known Cate for a few years now, but this was my first time meeting her lovely family.
We started out at their beautiful home so we could snap a few shots with their pups before heading to a local park. Despite it not being our original plan, it worked out perfectly and was so much fun!
As promised, here is part two of Anna & Steve’s big day. After our little photo session around Lincoln Park, we headed over to Loft on Lake for the evening’s festivities.
Anna hung out in the back room while guest filtered in.
Then it was time for the celebration to start!
The bride even made each of the terrariums by hand. They were absolutely gorgeous!
Congratulations, Anna & Steve!! I LOVED photographing your day.
A couple of weeks ago, Anna & Steve said ‘I Do’ and I photographed their beautiful day. It was threatening rain all week, but we were treated with a slightly cool, yet sunny day and it was absolutely perfect!
Having only met them last year, I can honestly say that these two are the symbol of true love. Congratulations to Anna & Steve!
Anna wore a Bholdn gown that looked like it was custom made for her. She was stunning!
Then it was time to head out for a first glance and photos at one of their favorite places in Chicago, the Lily Pool in Lincoln Park. It provided the perfect backdrop!
Congratulations, you two! I can’t wait to share the second half with you later this week.
Every so often, I have a session that makes me realize how important my job is. This was one of them!
It has been almost a year since I last photographed the Sheets family. Since then, a lot has changed. They bought a beautiful new home and have moved out of the city, had a beautiful and healthy little girl & Angela was recently diagnosed with breast cancer. Little Danielle was born at 35 weeks and at just barely 12 days young, I got the chance to meet this beautiful girl. It was such an honor to photograph this lovely family yet again and through it all. I am looking forward to our next session, whenever that may be.
Stay strong Angela, you’ve got this!
Emily is graduating this year then heading to Baylor this June, but before all of that, she needed her Senior photos taken. She picked her favorite local park that had just started to bloom and it made for the perfect backdrop.
Take a look.
Good luck, Emily!
It has been almost a full year since I left for what may have been the adventure of a lifetime. Last May, my boyfriend and I headed to tropical Bali and met up with some good friends before touring the Indonesian island. We visited temples, some of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen, talked to locals, ate like kings and saw as much as possible in our ten short days there. Take a look!
We started off in the Seminyak area and stayed in a traditional Balinese home, via Airbnb. It was at the end of a dirt road that was surrounded by chickens & lizards. Other than the tiny visitors, we had the place to ourselves.
Our first full day on the island was filled with rain and the streets were flooded. Luckily it cleared up quickly, but it sure didn’t stop the locals.
Shepard Fairey was here.
One thing is for sure, the Balinese loved having their photo taken with the tourists. Here we are with some of our new friends.
For the second half of our stay in Bali, we headed inland to Ubud. Here we are exploring the city on foot and falling in love. What a place!
Can you spot the monkey?
We stayed just outside of town in a place that was surrounded by rice fields and roosters. I could not have asked for anything more. Thanks Airbnb!
Next up? 48 hours in Hong Kong. Stay tuned!
For the last few years, I have helped out on the set for our annual 48 Hour Film Project submission. It is an exhausting and wildly creative weekend that is filled bagels and so many fun moments. This past August was no exception! We have a small team, so on set I help out with many different aspects, but my favorite part is being the set photographer. Here are a few shots from this year’s making of our little movie.
Warning, things get a little weird when you don’t sleep in a weekend.
Definitely take a moment to check out our little movie too. Here it is!
