Then it was time for everyone to hit the dance floor!
The bride’s brothers make up the band, The Brothers Tabor. So they took the stage after a bit and were joined by the father of the groom… and eventually the bride!
Once again, congrats to Angela & Chris! Thanks so much for letting me be part of your day.
I’ve known Angela for awhile now since she is the sister-in-law of a good friend of mine. When I saw that she and Chris got engaged, I was so excited for them, but got even more excited when they asked me to document their wedding. Angela and Chris recently said “I Do” at Elk Grove Village’s Belvedere Banquet Hall. These two had the largest smiles on their faces the entire day and it was obvious how much they truly love one another. Immediately following the ceremony, it quickly turned into quite the celebration, but that will come in the next post.
This wedding ended up being a little more sentimental than I thought it was going to be for me though. It turned out that it was the site of the very first wedding I shot with the fabulous Imaginative Studios, four years ago! I didn’t realize it until I walked in the doors, but it felt great to be back for such a joyous occasion.
Without further ado, here is part one of two blog posts coming for these two lovely people. Congrats, you two!
I started out with Chris and the guys before heading over to where the girls were getting ready.
And then it was time for the first glance!
Take a look at their transportation for the day! Chris’s family takes it to all of the Bear’s games so they knew they wanted to incorporate it in somehow. It was quite a sweet ride!
After a quick photo session at the hotel, we headed over to the Belvedere for the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception.
Congratulations to Angela & Chris! I can’t wait to share part 2 with you!
I met the Schafer family just a couple of weeks ago on a beautiful autumn afternoon at the Morton Arboretum. It was so much fun getting to know this young family and apparently I grew up in the same small Illinois town as the dad. After some reminiscing, we got right to it and really lucked out with some amazing light and wonderful October weather. It turned out that at just 9 months old, Little R loved having her photograph taken!
Seriously, how cute is she?
Thanks so much for spending your afternoon with me. I can’t wait to see you in a few months when Little R turns a year old!
Jamie & John recently tied the knot at Open Secrets Studios in Chicago’s Near West Side. The night went off without a hitch and everywhere I looked, there was another beautiful detail that I had missed before. That shouldn’t be too surprising since Jamie used to be an amazing graphic designer and clearly had a vision for her big day. It was a photographer’s dream and quite the night.
Without further ado, take a look!
Each of the pieces in the invitation suite were letterpress printed by the talented Steracle Press and then hand-painted with watercolor by Jamie. She also did this for the table place cards, table numbers, ceremony programs and menus for the day. It was amazing!
Thanks for spending your day with me and congratulations. Cheers to a lifetime of happiness.
If you saw Jamie & John’s sneak peek, then you know that they threw one amazing wedding late last month. The weather was perfect and the sun came out while Jamie & John started their new life together.
I met Jamie almost ten years ago at my first full-time design job and we have kept in touch online ever since. I was so excited for Jamie when I saw that John had popped the question and then I got even more excited when we started talking about her wedding. I knew it was going to be amazing from day one and well, there is just too much lovely to fit into one blog post.
So here is Part 1 of their big day!
Jamie and her bridesmaids got ready in a room with a view at the Sofitel downtown.
And my assistant was photographing John and the guys getting ready at a friend’s place in Bucktown.
Then we all met on their condo building’s rooftop for one heck of an emotional first glance and followed it up with some quick portraits around the neighborhood.
Jamie had a custom harness made for the ring bearer—their dog Fiona—so that she matched the intricate details of her vintage dress. How cute are they? The flowers were designed by Fleur Chicago and were a perfect addition to their big day!
And then it was time for the ceremony. I can’t wait to share Part 2 with you!
Jamie and John recently tied the knot in Chicago’s Open Secrets Studios. The bride wore an elegant vintage dress while the groom wore a navy suit with a quirky gingham shirt and patterned bow tie. It was great to see their style come through on the wedding day.
It turned out to be a sunny late September day just for these two and I was so happy I got to photograph it all. After they said “I do”, Kerrie of Ellie Events put together quite the party filled with some of Chicago’s best vendors! Take a look!
Jamie used to be a graphic designer, so she knew she had to design something special for her big day. Take a look at Jamie’s handiwork. They were printed with black ink and blind embossed by the talented Steracle Press and then the bride watercolored the rest. Are they amazing, or what?
I LOVED everything about this day and can’t wait to share more with you!
I was lucky enough to document Kristina and Steve exchange vows a few weeks ago in Bolingbrook, Illinois and I think Kristina laughed through the entire day. It threatened to rain, but we got lucky and the sun came out instead. It turned out to be a beautiful day for their classic Cracker Jack wedding. Congratulations Kristina & Steve!
I started off at Kristina & Steve’s home with the guys and their adorable kitty, Izzy.
Any day that starts off with this combination is destined for greatness!
Then it was time to head over to see what Kristina and the girls were up to.
Then Steve came out to meet us on the balcony for a bit before heading to the Morton Arboretum.
After a few quick shots at the Arboretum, we were off to New Life Lutheran Church so they could exchange their vows. Steve’s friend gave the sermon and had them laughing through the entire ceremony.
Then we were off to Harry Carey’s in Lombard for some fun, followed up with a fireworks display and cracker jacks!
Congrats you two!
Last winter I was lucky enough to photograph these two in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood and this August I photographed their wedding in Watervliet Michigan’s MillCreek Barn. Not only was the weather great, but this wedding was a photographer’s dream!
Erin & Luke’s attention to the little details was really what made this day special though. Their family even made the cake stand and helped out with so many of the finishing touches for their day. I loved everything about their shindig, right down to the bluegrass band that was on a roadtrip from the south! It’s great when everything comes together like it did for Erin & Luke. What a day!
Everyone got ready at the local hotel before heading to the barn for the day’s festivities.
Meanwhile the guys were getting ready just down the hall.
From the hotel, we headed straight to MillCreek Barn to enjoy the day.
And then it was time for the party!
Thanks so much for letting me photograph your big day, Erin & Luke.
I know I just posted Jamie & John’s sneak peek, but I was just too excited not to post the rest of the photos… so here you are! Needless to say, I am really looking forward to September 28th.
